A silver lining of bupkes
Now more than ever, there has never been so little to say about nothing.
If you woke up today — assuming you went to bed — with the sinking feeling that something is not quite right, we are here to tell you not to worry. Even at The Bupkes, we are unsure if anything is something or if everything is nothing.
We suspect it’s the latter, respectively, especially when it comes to last-minute polls in Iowa.
It is a dark day for democracy — or at least for Democrats, who until yesterday assumed was the same thing. You can excuse them for the confusion; it’s in their name, after all! They’ve been saying “democracy is on the ballot” for what feels like since Grover Cleveland’s second nonconsecutive term — and how right they were!

Just not the way they meant it. Perhaps a few more billion dollars in TV spots would have gotten there. Oh well. Maybe next time.
Instead, democracy worked out in favor of the guy who has most actively challenged it, and did so by bringing way more people out to vote for him than his opponent…
